Amar Santana hosts a cooking demo to benefit the Lung Cancer Foundation

You’ve seen him compete and judge contestants on Bravo’s “Top Chef,” now watch Amar Santana lead a “friendly competition” at Day at the Chef’s Table, a virtual event to benefit the Lung Cancer Foundation of America, on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Annabelle Gurwitch, best known for “Dinner and a Movie” on TBS, will host the event with lung cancer patient and advocate Lysa Buonanno and LCFA’s Young Investigator grant award recipient Triparna Sen. The two will prepare pan-roasted salmon with crispy skin, roasted asparagus and ratatouille while Santana leads the cooking from the kitchen at his Laguna Beach restaurant, Broadway by Amar Santana and Gurwitch acts as host.

Those in the audience will have a chance to bid during the auction of a chef’s table for six dinner at Broadway and a dinner for six at Vaca in Costa Mesa.

“We’ll be broadcasting and cooking live,” Gurwitch said in an announcement about the event. A lung cancer patient herself, Gurwitch is dedicated to the cause and stoked that this will be  an entertaining way to raise funds. “For foodies it’s going to be super fun as Chef Amar shares cooking techniques and we cook a meal together. “

The virtual event begins at noon Saturday, Oct. 2. General admission tickets are $25. Premium admission tickets for $100 include a link to a recipe and an instructional video on how to make Chef Santana’s Sticky Toffee Pudding with Miso Caramel. To purchase tickets, visit lcfamerica.org.
