Matt Boermeester, USC’s Rose Bowl-winning kicker, won’t return to team

Matt Boermeester, whose 46-yard basket as time ran out lifted USC to its significant Rose Bowl success over Penn State in January, will certainly not return for his senior period, an athletic division spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.

Boermeester was suspended from the group in February after the school started checking out an undefined “& ldquo; pupil standard procedure problem.” & rdquo; The nature of the concern was never revealed.

Boermeester did not join spring technique and also was not detailed on the Trojans’ & rsquo; 2017 roster that was launched Tuesday.

In his initial season as the starter, Boermeester, who transferred from Saddleback College, made 18 of his 25 field-goal attempts.

He is the son of Peter Boermeester, an all-conference kicker at UCLA from 1977-79.

USC is left with just one placekicker on its roster —– Michael Brown, a redshirt fresher.

Twist Chase McGrath, an inbound fresher from Mater Dei, is anticipated to sign up with the team before the period.

Educating camp for USC opens Saturday.
